Objective of Education
This graduate program aims to develop specialized knowledge and to cultivate specialists in pharmacy to meet the need of medical care and pharmaceutical industry and research. Bountiful and diversified courses of pharmacy with as much emphasis on theory as on practice are provided to develop students' skills in development and analysis of new drug, identification of drug candidates from natural source, investigation of function and mechanism of bioactive substances, and development of new drug formulation. Graduates from this program are expected to apply their professional skills and inspire research creativity; therefore, the missions of this
department are:
- To teach Western and Korean traditional pharmacy based on the understanding of essential biological phenomena
- To conduct and foster the independent and creative pharmacist with scientific and creative thinking and up-to-date knowledge of medicinal care
- To educate the graduates with potential to create the integrated pharmacy based on both Western and Korean traditional pharmacy
- To give various laboratory environments for research experience

Objective of Education
The aims of the department are focused on the contributions of research in the oriental pharmaceutical sciences to the underpinning of advances in the health care of the community and where appropriate received encouragement to pursue research interests, developed learning skills and motivation to provide the basis for self-directed continuing education, and acquired knowledge, skills and attitudes appropriate for further education in any pharmaceutical speciality.
Brief History
The Department of Oriental Pharmaceutical Science was inaugurated in December, 2002.
